Smut was sexually explicit content or literature.

Smut, the audacious brand, is a bold creation born from PROJECT-1871. It stands as a vibrant celebration of culturally suppressive words, showcasing original photography and costumes meticulously designed and crafted by Glenn D. Kellam II aka, “1871.” The essence of this undertaking revolves around the empowering idea of reclaiming the word "smut" while honoring a time marked by personal exploitation and an unabashed celebration of sexuality, regardless of how “vulgar” or “explicit” it may initially appear. This initiative represents a true and unfiltered act of freedom, with all models featured in the images generously volunteering their bodies and time for this unapologetic, grainy, and stunning tribute to the notorious smut magazines of the 1920s. These publications, along with their trailblazing figures in self-exploitation and sexuality, played a critical role in dismantling numerous social barriers and constraints surrounding human sexuality, revealing how a body can evolve into an empire—an insatiable personal business and source of interdependence. Importantly, no professional models were utilized in the creation of these captivating images; instead, the collection features women from diverse walks of life mothers, grandmothers, neighbors, and friends ranging in ages from 23 to 55, each exemplifying raw sexuality and undeniable beauty. I'm grateful for everyone's time, trust, and belief in this project..
